Animal Icons explores the emotional bond between humans and animals. The inspiration for the series was drawn from both textile design and early religious icons. By removing the animal from its natural context, I hope to evoke feelings of reverence. Whether a domestic pet or a wild animal, I want my subjects to confront the viewer with honesty, wit, strength, and intensity. Through vibrant color, pattern, and playful irreverence, I hope to blur the gap between sacred and profane, tame and wild, human and animal.
